Webinar - CUI Test Results:
Understanding the Corrosive Mechanism

Date: Wednesday, September 12th
Time: 2:00 PM ET

The demand for real-world corrosion under insulation (CUI) testing has risen sharply in the industrial industry in the last several years. In response to this need, end users, third-party research labs, and manufacturers have collaborated to help develop new, long-term corrosion test protocols.

The new testing explored how complete systems (pipe, insulation, & jacketing) performed in conditions designed to accelerate corrosion over the course of 6 months. The first tests were completed in 2016 with a silica aerogel blanket sample and a microporous blanket as the initial test materials.

The testing has continued, and new results from the latest long-term corrosion tests on calcium silicate and expanded perlite are in. Johns Manville’s CUI experts Ames Kulprathipanja, Ph.D., Juan Carlos Madeni, Ph.D., and Marybeth Jones will be discussing the results of this test and more in our upcoming webinar CUI Test Results: Understanding the Corrosive Mechanism on September 12th at 2:00 PM ET.

The webinar will dive into the following topics and conclude with a live Q&A:

  • Introduction to NACE TG 516 Test Protocol
  • Results from the latest testing on calcium silicate and expanded perlite
  • Corrosion inhibitor mechanisms & how they work
  • Critical differences in carbon steels
  • How alloys vary and how that can impact your system
  • How corrosion impacts varying metal substrates
All live webinar attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion that may be submitted for Professional Development Hour (PDH) Credits*.

*The webinar content is provided for professional development purposes only. It is intended to assist attendees in retaining and expanding their knowledge base. JM will provide a Certificate of Completion for attending the webinar. Acceptance of the certificate as a professional development hour is at the discretion of the organization that receives the submittal.
